    Medical Oncologist

    “I am a passionate clinician. My research focuses on trying to find better ways to estimate recurrence risk in patients with breast cancer in order to personalise our therapies to those who have the most to gain from them."

     

    Belinda Yeo is a consultant Medical Oncologist, specialising in breast cancer. She is jointly appointed to the Austin Hospital as a Medical Oncologist and to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute as a Clinician Scientist. She is an Honorary Associate at the School of Cancer Medicine, La Trobe University, Melbourne.

     

    At the University of Sydney, she completed a Bachelor of Arts (English and Psychology) in 2000, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 2004. She trained at the St Vincent’s and Prince of Wales Hospitals in Sydney after which she joined the Breast Unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital, London in 2012 as the "Cridlan" Clinical and Research Fellow. She spent the next four years working with patients with breast cancer as well as in the translational research laboratory.

     

    She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2014. In 2016 she completed her Research Master’s Degree at The University of London and The Institute of Cancer Research. Her thesis, entitled “Predicting the risk of breast cancer recurrence: how precise need we be?”, investigated novel genomic and non-molecular risk predictors in oestrogen receptor positive breast cancer. She is a clinical trial investigator and continues her translational research at the ONJ Centre.
